Mission Impossible?

Our dining room table, was bought from our friends in Florida and we love our table. It is a table where we have served many meals and many people. It is a very pretty table too, and fits 8 people when it is expanded out. More if you squeeze.  Unlike a lot of tables when you put the left in and it makes it longer, our left makes it square. Which makes it nice because when you have a LONG table, it always seems like I always got seated in the middle. Then the whole meal is, "Tabitha, can you pass the.." "Can you pass that?" and it was always right when you are about to take a bite! You middle of the table sitters know what I am talking about!  I never figured out why the end is called the head, All I know is my dad always sits there. I have lately come to realize he sits at the HEAD because his legs are so long that they won't fit the middle of the table when he sits there. Makes a lot of sense but I still have know Idea why it is called the HEAD, and is the other end called the Tail? Have no idea, maybe I will have to research that sometime!... when I have time! Well our table when made out full becomes a square so everyone is involved in passing or just reaches. One of these days I am going to buy a Lazy Susan for it and then all we have to do is keep the kids from spinning the ketchup off in to space. =) The only problem with my table is finding Table clothes that fit it! I know there have to be more people with square tables but there must be a conspiracy about making square table clothes. I JUST CAN"T FIND THEM! I usually just put matching color clothes crisscross to cover it, which leaves the corners open. And I hate to buy 2 table clothes to go on 1 table. So while in Africa I was on a mission. Instead of going under cover we were going to buy the cover!=) I searched markets and bazaars and stores.

We went out to Afri-color, which is a neat store with tye-dyed cloth, pillow cases, pottery, and all kinds of cool things. But NO SQUARE TABLE CLOTHES!
I ended up buying this pretty table cloth for my table when it is a rectangle with out the left in.
Here the boys with Oma waiting patiently while I looked.
Cuteness right there!
Mom ended up taking me to a Fabric store to buy some African fabric and make my own table cloth. We decided that I would need 2 meters to cover my table. There were so many fabrics to choose from and then I found the perfect one!!! Went up to have it cut off the bolt and guess what........YEP there was only 1.5 meters!!! WHAT?? But I liked it so much I bought it and hoped that I can fix it to fit!

As I said there were so many to choose from!
This one is one Mom bought me for my Birthday Present! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!(but it is not square either so a gold cloth goes under it when needed)

This is the Material I bought for the square table cloth. This is not a good picture of it.
It is hard to see the colors and pictures but I love the design.
So my mission to find a table cloth is a success. I found 3 and one of them can be used on my cool table as a square. So excited! Now who can I have over for dinner?=)=)
