Around Town

Here are some pictures of what things you might see around Lusaka and while driving around the country.

 Down Town Lusaka

 

 This fountain has been here since I can remember. 

I always thought it pretty with the copper eagle on top.

 

 This is the Parliament and Court area of Lusaka. We call this Round-about the sword in the Stone. I am not sure what it is a monument for but it is pretty.

 

 This is the Olympic training complex in Lusaka. It is a nice complex!

 

 

  This is the burial for President Mwanawasa. He died from a stroke while he was president. He was a wonderful president and got rid of a lot of coruption. He was a Christian and was a very nice man. He really was changing this country for the better. He was a great man and a great President!

 

 President Chaluba's tomb stone. Not as extravagant as Mwanawasa but he was not a good president. He was the Second president of Zambia. He started out good but corrupted his self and stole a lot of money.  He had a sign to tell you who he was.

 

 The new Football Stadium being built for CHIPOLOPOLO, the Zambian football team. Chipolopolo means fast as a bullet. They won the 2012 African Cup of Nations!! I am very proud of them! The Whole country is proud of them. They are HEROES and Every Zambian celebrates for their accomplishment! You can buy T-shirts, scarfs, hats and all kinds of memorabilia. It is AWESOME!  Many years ago, the entire team were in a plane crash and died and buried at the previous Football stadium. It is nice to see a new team rise up and win! CHIPOLOPOLO!!! CHIPOLOPOLO!!! when you say that it brings a smile to every Zambians face!

 

Need some Beer? Well this guy is waiting for the Beer truck to come by. The yellow jugs are for beer and there is a truck that is a big truck with a giant tank on the back and they mix the beer and deliver it. If it isn't fermented when they started, by the end of the day, out in the hot sun will definitely take care of fermentation. EWWW Looks gross to me! Keith laughed when he saw the truck because it looks a lot like the truck that comes to collect our sewer here in Galena!

 This is the typical little corner store. You can buy a whole lot in this little store!

 In case of Fire Assemble here! This was new when we go there. Not sure if anyone would actually know to actually assemble here. Most people will jump in and help put the fire out.

 Need wood? Nope I don't, I get to go home to Alaska and cut up all of mine!

I think this is my favorite. Can you guess what it is?? Well I will tell you. You can probably guess that part of this job is a lawn mover....with a cord. Dude I thought vacuuming with a cord is bad! I can't imagine having to cut grass with a electric cord connecting you to power! Don't cut the cable or you make get the shock of your life!!  The other part of this job are the sticks. can you guess what that is? I will tell you. This guy is a multi talented man. He can Mow your grass and fix your pipes. Hopefully NOT at the same time The sticks are used for plumbing. Don't ask me how.... I HAVE NO IDEA! But it is a serious business around here. =)
