Falling in Love with FALL!!

We all know our perfect picture of fall, you know the cool brisk clear air, Leaves changing from green to gold and red, raking them and jumping in them, wearing sweaters and scarfs, getting to light a fire in your fire place and curl up and read a book while drinking hot chocolate. At least that was always my dream of what fall would be when I lived in Africa. Well when I moved back to the U.S.A I was excited that YAY! I would get to see Fall! YEAH any of you that live in Texas or Florida know that is NOT what we get to see in the South. Our fall is more of a December cold front came down froze the trees and all the leaves turned brown and fall off. You still have to rake them up but the image in my head just never came true. I think I had 1 sweater when I lived in the south. Yep 1 sweater that I wore on the one day a year that it got cold enough to wear it. Usually in the "fall" I would want a cup of Iced tea to cool you off. Disappointment in my ideal fall image was crushing. But I must say Alaska has made me fall in love with fall! I think this has become one of my favorite times of the year. The bugs are gone, Cranberry picking, the air is cool and I have been lighting a fire in my stove a few nights when the temperatures have dropped. The colors of gold here are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! It is so pretty to see the Green Spruce trees among the golden Birch trees. It is fun to drive down the road and admire the beauty! My house is decorated for Fall, which my sister-in-law Renee would be proud of, and I haven't got out my Christmas decor yet. As I said I am waiting till AFTER Kaden's birthday... October 12th. hehehehe Well here are some pictures of our fall here around Galena. I wish pictures did it justice! Happy Fall everyone!!
