Since we live in a town that has no roads connecting it to any towns to go get groceries, we have to go to Fairbanks and shop for the food we will be needing till Next summer. We buy the food and ship it on the barge down river to Galena where we pick it up again. Since I have not been out of Galena since I got here, Keith and I decided that we could spend a week in Fairbanks as a mini vacation and shop at the same time. The first 3 days were intense shopping and not much fun. We got everything packed up and sent on the barge. Here we are packing up the Crate that was shipped. There was no room left in there.

The rest of the trip we had to enjoy the sites around Fairbanks. We had the chance to try to eat at all the places that Guy Fieri went to in his "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" show. We love to watch that show and it was really cool to say I have eaten there too.=) As I have said before I am such a tourist!=)=)

Guy Ate Here and so have I!=)

Of Course being in Fairbanks we were only 10 Miles from NORTH POLE!!!! Keith being the good sport that he is took his Christmas loving wife to Santa's House. He is the best Hubby ever! Even Though he made me leave my Credit Card in the car he allowed me to use his.=)=) I loved North Pole. The whole town was decorated for Christmas and all the roads were Christmas names. The Catholic Church was even called St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Even the McDonalds is decorated Christmas and the Light poles are all Candy Canes.

Even the Universal Welding Company was festive!

All letters that are addressed to Santa all over the USA are sent to this Town and all the towns people get together and respond to all of the letters. If I lived closer to North Pole I would love to work in this town!!

Kaden telling Santa hello and to not forget to bring his baby for Christmas. For some reason in his mind Santa is the one bringing his baby for Christmas.

Mailing letters to his Cousins that were signed by Santa and sent from the North Pole!
HOW COOL!!!

Our Family with Santa. He was a really nice man and tells you the real reason for the Season! He gives all Christmas Credit to Jesus and doesn't work on Sundays because he goes to church with Mrs. Claus.

After meeting Santa we hit another restaurant that Guy went to. Pagodas...Lets just say it was the best Chinese food I have had! Wow! Delicious!

A beautiful Sunset over the Lake. Keith loves taking sunset pictures here because the sun takes hours to go down, so there is always a great chance to get good pictures.

We decided that since hotels in the Summer jack their prices up to about 3 times more then winter prices that we would camp out instead for $16 a day. I thought this a great Idea since we could save money and actually eat good food and stay longer then the 3 days that we were planning on doing in the first place. I am so glad we camped even in the rain and cold weather because I enjoyed being able to have some vacation time out of Galena. We stayed at the Tanana Valley Camp ground and it was nice. They had hot showers and nice bathrooms and it was close to all the places we needed to go to. This building is the Office building. It was really cute!

Our campsite

Our home for the week! Kaden loved camping

Ok this truck was a really neat! Kind of what I would imagine Beverly Hill Billies truck would look like if they would have moved to Alaska and not to California!

Big Daddy's Bar-B-Q...Yep Guy ate here too!

And Santa eats here too so of course I had to eat here!

After 3 days of shopping and packing we took Kaden to Pioneer park to play on their really cool playground. He got to ride the train and run all his energy out. For being stuck in a shopping cart for 3 days our son did great and we rewarded him by letting him play on a playground.

Waiting to ride the train

So excited!!

Loving the playground

Then we went to a river and walked around a bit.

It was so pretty!

My Aunt Rosemary and Uncle James were on a trip around Alaska and were spending 2 days in Denali. So we worked our schedule around so we could drive down and see them for an afternoon. On the drive down we stopped to see some of the sites. This was a beautiful stop over looking the valley and on a clear day you can see Denali(Mt. Mckinley) from where we are.

Watching white water rafters go down the river. It was freezing. We were glad to have coats on.
