I must say the 4th of July in Galena is something I would not want to miss. It was full of fun games and races and good food. It was definitely a community event and everyone was there. It was a day with beautiful weather and fun times with friends. The only thing missing was fireworks but since it doesn't get dark you can't see them anyways. So I watched fireworks on TV and just imagined that it was dark outside.=) hahaha anyways. After Church on Sunday we headed down to Old town and it was decked out in flags and banners. So fun to see. There were races for all ages. Even Kaden got to race in the shoe race and he participated in the money scramble and ended up with about $5 worth of Pennies and nickels.=) He had a blast. Each age group had races such as sack races, bike races, Clothes races, and any other race you can think of.

Bag Races for the little kids- so cute!

Money race for big kids- better get out of the way on this one! It is amazing what they do for a dollar=)

Bike Races

Kaden and Hawkins getting ready to race their big race. They were racing in the shoe race where they were suppose to race down and find their shoes and run back but since both of them don't know how to tie their shoes yet they just ran for the fun of it.!=)

On your Mark, get set, GO!!

Kaden and Hawkins with their prize winnings.

Kaden finding money in the saw dust. After the kids gave up all the parents were still looking and there was so much money in there. Kaden had fun digging and finding some!

Then there is the grease pole that is the talk of the town. Who will reach the top of the pole to get all the money on top? You can see different groups of people go to the pole and figure out how to get up there.

From what I hear it takes about 3 stories of people to stand and get to the top. We did not stay till someone got to the top because the drinking games began so we left.
It was a fun day to spend in our little town and celebrate our countries independence. Thank all of you who serve or Served our country to give us the days like we had today! I APPRECIATE YOU!!
