Todd is a well known Iron dog racer and has won 4 times! Here in Alaska that is EXCITING! That is like saying he is the NASCAR winner, except his races are serious racing. There is not 500 mile lap race where you drive in a circle burning gas and blowing tires, it is Trekking across remote rugged terrain, with Ice, Snow, trees and rivers(that are not ALWAYS frozen solid). If your machine breaks down he doesn't have a pit crew to fix it , he has to do it himself. There is frost bite,hypothermia, blizzards, and all sorts of problems that get in your way. To me that makes the Iron dog EXTREME racing. Todd is more know for being good at this race then being married to Sarah. And if there was ever a chance that I would get to meet anyone in the Palin family it would be here in Galena and I would be meeting Todd during the Iron dog race. AND YES I DID!
YAY!!! I can officially add Todd Palin to my ever growing list of famous people who I have met in Galena! On his way back through Galena during the Iron Dog race, he lay overed in Galena for 10 hours. Right before he left we headed down to the check station and there he was. Some one commented that they didn't know if he would mind getting a picture and me being my normal self have no problem asking for a picture with someone. hehehehe SO I did and he was very happy to do it. Though with all his gear on you would not be able to know it was him if he was just walking down the street but his jacket and snow-machine had his name on it. I was super excited to meet him as well as other great Racers. I was just excited that Now when people ask "Have you met Sarah Palin? " I can say no but I meet her husband! =)=)
